Karlstejn Castle
Karlstejn Castle

Karlstejn Castle is proudly rising above the Berounka River. It is a famous Czech castle, one of the symbols of the Czech Kingdom of the Gothic period. It was founded in 1348 and its look totally meets tourists' expectations...
From the beginning the Karlstejn was destined to be a place where royal treasures were kept, so it would be a marvelous “rim” to the diamonds of Charles IV. The castle has a stepwise placement of the buildings. Every next building is rising above a previous one, and the ensemble is topped with the Big Tower and the Holy cross Chapel where all royal relics were held, including the Holy Roman Empire crown.

During the tour you will visit to the Big Tower and the Holy cross Chapel which walls and ceilings are decorated with semi-precious stones, a collection of 129 paintings by Master Theoderic, visit to the Hall of Ancestors with Czech rulers’ portraits, St. Catherine Chapel with 14th century murals.
